MLS 2010: Passport to Leadership Values
The Multicultural Leadership Summit, held on the Florida State University campus, focuses on building a foundation of knowledge that will enhance student success in leadership in the areas of multiculturalism and social justice. On January 30, 2010, MLS will provide students the essential tools to be a leader in a global society. There will be three concurrent sessions corresponding with the following topics: Ethnic/Racial Identities, Multiple Identities (e.g., sexual orientation, gender, multiethnic identity, disability, etc.), and Leadership and Service.
Students, faculty and staff members will have the opportunity to present sessions on the topics of current social justice issues pertaining to the specific identities. In order to effectively lead and serve on the multicultural level, one must have a deeper understanding of the issues and how certain communities are being affected. Sessions on topics of leadership and service will also be presented on the steps that students can take to become actively involved in the social issues they have explored during the conference.
