Juan R. Guardia, Ph.D.
Director

Dr. Juan R. Guardia is the Director of Multicultural Affairs at Florida State University. In his current position, Juan has overall responsibility of all programs and services related to the office. In addition, he is also a Visiting Instructor in the Higher Education graduate program within the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the FSU College of Education.

Juan is originally from Homestead, Florida. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership/Higher Education Administration and a graduate certificate in Community College Teaching from Iowa State University, an M.S. degree in Higher Education and a B.S. degree in Communication from Florida State University, and his A.A. degree from Miami-Dade Community College. Previously, Juan worked in the Office of Diversity Programs and Services at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. His dissertation focused on the ethnic identity development of Latino fraternity members at a Hispanic Serving Institution. Recently, Dr. Guardia was featured in the April 2008 issue of Latino University magazine and the August 2008 issue of the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education.

When not in the office, Juan enjoys watching all Seminole sports, playing racquetball, and collecting original movie posters.
