OMA Graduation and Recognition Ceremony
On Wednesday, April 22, 2009, the Office of Multicultural Affairs is hosting its second annual OMA Graduation and Recognition Ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of graduating seniors affiliated with the Office of Multicultural Affairs. This event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Oglesby Union Ballrooms and is open to all. The honored guests are limited to seniors graduating in the spring and summer of 2009. The recognition ceremony will allow OMA to honor the academic and leadership achievements of the Class of 2009 as well as recognize the contributions these students have made to Florida State University community. This ceremony will provide a chance for seniors to share their accomplishments with the professional staff that have been visible throughout their academic and co-curricular endeavors as well as friends and family members. Students will be encouraged to wear graduation regalia as well as any stoles, cords, or medals they possess which represent their cultural or ethnic heritage or affiliation to specific organizations. Participating students will receive a token of appreciation from the Office of Multicultural Affairs in addition to a certificate of achievement. Refreshments and light hors d'oeuvres will be available after the ceremony. Registration is open to the first 250 participants. Please register here
As we celebrate the start of Spring, we invite you to Tallahassee to see your student and participate in a number of activities available to the campus community. This is an especially unique time to visit your student and the university community because of all of the great things happening in the capitol city! Family Weekend 2009 takes place over three weekends - March 27th-29th, April 3rd-5th, and April 10th-12 - with highlighted features such as Springtime Tallahassee on March 28th and FSU Flying High Circus' Homeshow Series: Spectacular on April 3rd-5th and April 10th and 11th. FSU ranks in undergraduate degrees awarded to African-American and Hispanic students
In 2007, Diverse Issues in Higher Education ranked Florida State University as one of the top universities in the nation producing minority graduates. FSU ranks 5th in bachelors degrees awarded to African American undergraduates and is the top producer in the nation of African-American baccalaureates among doctoral universities.
In 2008, The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education's rankings of the top 100 Colleges for Hispanics ranked FSU 29th in the nation in bachelor's degrees and 61 in master's degrees awarded to Hispanics. In addition, FSU was ranked 40th in the nation in colleges enrolling the most Hispanic students.

The OMA provides small co-sponsorship funds to FSU registered student organizations that coordinate programs which celebrate diversity, multiculturalism, and social justice. Funds are limited and are distributed at the discretion of the OMA staff. If your organization is interested, please complete the following form and drop it by our office in A211 Oglesby Union.
